FG Sites a Federal Polytechnic in Akwa Ibom State

The federal government has approved the set up of a polytechnic at Essien Udim LGA Akwa Ibom state.

This was made known by the State Governor Godswill Akpabio.

According to him, the federal government has also approved N1billion as a take-off grant for the new polytechnic.

The polytechnic which will be called Federal Polytechnic, Ukana will commence academic activities by September.

Meanwhile, the state government is going to rehabilitate the existing Independence High School in Ukana as a temporary site for the polytechnic.

Prof. Balama Joseph Mbomanu , Mr. Chrysanctus Asuka, Sunday A. Okpo, Dr. Emem Udofia will serve as the first Rector, Registrar, Bursar, and Librarian respectively.
