Super Eagles’ Coach, Stephen Keshi, was appointed as the manager of the Nigerian senior football team in 2011.
The former defender did the country proud when the team won the 2013 African Cup of Nations. He also led the national team to the ongoing Football World Cup in Brazil.
Delighted by Keshi and his team’s performance in winning the coveted Nations Cup in 2013, the Chairman of Globacom telecommunications company, Dr. Mike Adenuga, presented the 52-year-old Keshi with gifts.
The gifts included cash, property and two cars. One of the cars Keshi received was a 2013 Range Rover.
The Range Rover Supercharged is like buying two exceptional vehicles in one; a rugged off-road SUV and a luxury car. It costs about N15m.
The vehicle is thoroughly opulent with good driving dynamics and more off-road ability than most owners will ever need. None of that comes cheap, however, as this is one of the most expensive SUVs around, according to Consumer Guide.
Performance
The Range Rover is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine that generates 375 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. For those who want more power, a supercharged V8 is optional, which boosts the output to a stupendous 510 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque.
The supercharged model can reach 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The Environmental Protection Agency rates the base 2013 Range Rover at 14mpg/city, 20mpg/highway and 16mpg combined, while the supercharged is nearly as efficient at 13mpg/city, 19mpg/highway and 15mpg combined.
Features
The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover is a five-passenger luxury SUV available in two trim levels: base and Supercharged and a big part of the 2013 Range Rover’s appeal is its high-class interior.
For example, the base model comes standard with 19-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and keyless entry and ignition. Also standard are touchscreen navigation with voice control, Bluetooth, phone, USB/iPod/auxiliary audio connectivity ports, a 13-speaker Meridian audio system, satellite and radio.
Safety
The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover comes equipped with antilock brakes, traction and electronic stability control, child safety locks, hill descent control and driver and passenger air bags on all sides. The optional adaptive cruise control has an Intelligent Emergency Braking, which uses radar to detect a possible collision situation and initiates braking to help avoid it. When the driver does not respond and a collision is deemed unavoidable, the system can engage full-force braking on its own.
Comfort
Rear-seat headroom and legroom should be adequate for most adults. The 2013 Range Rover is deemed adequate when it comes to carrying cargo. With the rear seats in use, there are 32.1 cubic feet of cargo space. With them folded down, maximum capacity measures 71.7 cubic feet.
Driving Impressions
Any luxury SUV that rockets to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds qualifies as quick. Critics are impressed that even with all of its off-road capabilities, the Range Rover performs very well on paved roads as well. There have been no safety recalls issued from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The good: Reviewers say its off-road capability is excellent and that there is no off-road task the Range Rover would not easily handle, coupled with its high-tech interior and off-road capability.
The bad: Auto reviewers criticised the heavy steering at highway speeds and complicated touchscreen controls that may be hard to use.
