Develop home grown ICT solutions, expert urges professionals

Technology professionals in the country have been called upon to come up with initiatives required to tackle challenges of the highly competitive and fast evolving global technology space.

The Chief Executive Officer, Phase3 Telecom, Mr. Stanley Jegede, made the call during the Africa ICT Professionals Conference 2014, organised by the Association of Telecommunications Professional of Nigeria.

Jegede said that one of the quickest ways the world would consistently recognise and appreciate the professionalism of ICT experts, whether in the area of content or infrastructure, would be through the consistent delivery of top notch inventions and solutions.

He said, “Globally viable innovations that will not only generate conversations but influence positive development and sustainability of services in the health, education, agriculture, finance, communications, IT/telecoms and public sectors must be the norm.”

The Phase3 Telecom CEO said no part of the continent was immune to the influence and impact of technology.

“So, Africa ICT professionals must understand the needs of the local market and deliver solutions that address them,” he said.

Jegede explained that several successful technology applications and solutions changing the entire world were due to painstaking thoughts and dedication.

He encouraged technology professionals in Nigeria to put in more efforts in what they were doing and assured that Phase3 would also play its role towards ensuring that its position in the Nigerian ICT space impacted the lives of people and the wider ICT industry positively.

“Phase3 Telecom, because of its front-line role in the Nigerian and Africa ICT market place, chooses to be a professional supporter of the ATPN via sponsorship of this year’s ICT professional conference. This is because we want to demonstrate our company’s commitment to always encourage initiatives and programmes that promote or advocate the continued development of the ICT sector,” he added.
