Group berates Aregbesola over comment on Ekiti election

The Goodluck Solidarity Mandate, Ekiti State Chapter, has berated Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, for discrediting the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State that produced the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose, as the governor-elect.

The group, in a statement on Tuesday, also criticised the President, Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, Mallam Sheu Sani, for speaking in the same vein with Aregbesola.

It said Sani, a human rights activist, should commend the outcome of the election, which was adjudged as free and fair rather than being condemn it.

The statement read, “It is disappointing that Aregbesola could resort to verbal attack on the person of Fayose in his desperation to disparage his election as the Governor of Ekiti State.

“Rather than addressing issues in Osun State, Aregbesola has embarked on an exercise in futility by attempting to discredit the Ekiti election and disparage the political achievement of the entire Ekiti People, even though the good people of Osun State did not share his personal sentiment.”
