PDP dismisses Wike’s resignation

People’s Democratic Party has dismissed the claim in some quarters that the Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, has resigned from his position.

The report of the minister’s resignation had been in the social media since Saturday, shortly after the new Minister of Education, Mr.
Ibrahim Shekarau, assumed duty.

But the Rivers State Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Felix Obuah, described the reports as false,
adding that Wike was still a member of President Goodluck Jonathan’s
cabinet.

Obuah, who spoke in a telephone interview with The PUNCH on Sunday, stated that the rumour that Wike had resigned was coming from the
enemy’s territory, adding that the minister would make his intention to resign public if it was true.
