Ghanaian Graduate Among 10 Suspected To Have Joined ISIS
25-year-old Ghanaian graduate Nazir Nortei Alema is feared to have
joined the terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS),
according to the Daily Guide.
Nazir, a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a degree in Geography and Rural Development, is feared to be one of 10 suspected Muslim youths from Ghana who have joined the terrorist group.
According to family sources, on August 2nd, soon after completing the mandatory National Service in Ghana, which he undertook at the Ghana Statistical Service, Mr. Alema sent a WhatsApp message to his family to the effect that he was traveling to another part of Ghana on a job-related assignment.
Nazir’s father Kabiru Alema said he later sent him another message to negate the earlier one.
“He said that he had lied to us when he said he was on his way to Prestea and Takoradi but that the truth is that he was on his way to join ISIS,” he said.
Excerpts from Nazir’s WhatsApp message read as follows: “Pray for me, for I will never forget you in my prayer and it’s my hope and prayer that we meet again if not in this world then in Jannah (paradise). I love you all. May Allah grant us understanding and guide us all to the straight path. Asalaamu alaikum.”
“I told you a lie to please my Allah. The deception was to go do some research work in far away Prestea while the main idea was to move far away from you all to the Islamic State (IS). I know it might sound kind of crazy for you but your son really had to take this bold step to get out of the corrupt system of Ghana which has democracy first on its list.”
The family says it is convinced that Nazir has joined the ranks of ISIS because “a couple of his friends have also gone missing. We went to their individual houses and discovered that there is no information about their whereabouts.”
Mr. Alema mentioned the name of another KNUST graduate, a certain Abubakar Mohammed aka Brother, as an example of the friends suspected to have taken off with him.
Mr. Alema said, “The youth who have fallen prey to the ISIS craze belong to the same whatsapp group on which they share extreme ideas about Islam.”
The “Sadaqa Train,” which is the name of the whatsapp group, has been deactivated after the father of one of the members questioned to the administrator about their motives.
Mr. Alema also added that some disturbing videos have been spotted on his son’s laptop, a clear indicator that Nazir has been sufficiently brainwashed online.
He also disclosed that a certain Badharn, a Guinean who attended the University of Ghana and joined ISIS five months ago, is responsible for the recruitment of these young Ghanaian Muslims.
Concerns have been expressed in several quarters about a covert drive to recruit vulnerable Muslim youth for the terrorist organization.

Alvan Ikoku "University" Of Education Is Boiling
For two weeks now, the rumor that the federal government is planning
to strip the newly converted colleges of education to universities of
education their university status has been on air. Here in alvan, the
news has not gone down well with the school community. On Friday 21st of

announced.
I went to school this morning to discover that all the gates of the school was under lock and key. there was a very large crowd of people at the gate trying to enter, but to no avail. when i finally entered, I learnt that there has been no hostel porter in any of the nine hostels in the school since that Friday.
I could not snap pictures because i wasn't with a good phone, but i later went back to snap just the one below.

Cultists Shoot APC Chieftain's Only Son To Death
A BLOODY clash between two rival cult groups at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) over the weekend has left a student dead. Sources claimed that the incident occurred at Gondola, near Angwan Rukuba in Jos North local council, as members of a group went to the room of a member of a rival cult simply identified as Nanfwan, a diploma student at the institution’s Centre for Continuing Education.
According to the eyewitness, the rival cult members shot him four times and he died instantly. They then went close to his body, shattered his head and body with knives.
It was also learnt that the father of the deceased was an All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant while the boy was an only son.
Residents of the area were shocked at such a bloody clash because according to them, “it was the first time something like this was happening here. The hostel had been very peaceful and lively.”
Sources also hinted that the body was immediately taken to the morgue of Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Jos, from where the deceased’s relations removed it for burial on Saturday.
Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Police Command, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the incident, promising more details later.
On August 4, a combined team of the Special Task Force (STF), the police and the Directorate of State Security (DSS) in Plateau had carried out an operation at UNIJOS, Federal College of Forestry and on people on the streets of some areas known to be notorious for criminal activities and arrested 16 students believed to be cult members.
The institution’s President of the National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS), Ogene Jude Ogbodo, had earlier said that 16 of their male students were whisked away for no just cause.
Contacted, the STF Spokesman, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, said that last week, three students were killed in the night by people believed to be cult members, and one other killed along the institution’s Bauchi Road campus.
According to Iweha, all the arrested student suspects were currently being investigated, while those not directly involved would be released and those found culpable handed prosecuted.

WAEC is Not Considering CBT Yet - WAEC Official
The Head, National Office, West African Examination Council, Charles
Eguridu, has said the council is not considering adopting the
Computer-Based Test mode for its examinations.
According to him, it will amount to “intellectual dishonesty’’ for him to say that the council would introduce CBT in the next five years or the near future.
He further stated that the purpose of education is not to pass examinations but to prepare people for life and unfortunately CBT cannot ensure that.
“There is what we call the cognitive domain; that is what you have learnt that you can put in your head.
“There is also what we call affective domain that has to do with your emotions.
“There is also what we call the psychomotor domain that is skills which you can express using your hands and your body.
“I am yet to see any education expert who will tell you that you can measure the psychomotor domain using CBT.
“Any test that will use computer to evaluate who will be a good carpenter cannot be a valid test.’’
He said the examinations conducted by the council took into cognizance the three domains that measured ability to recall, apply and practicalise.
He said that even in Netherlands where CBT is prominent, the country has not yet started using CBT in all it exams.
“In Netherlands … they have not been able to migrate 40 per cent.
“How many schools in Nigeria have hardware? How many schools in Nigeria have the facilities to have those computers?
“There is the additional problem of electricity and internet connectivity.
“What JAMB is doing is commendable because theirs is an admission test; it is a certification examination.’’

Igbo Corper That Converted To Islam Over Buhari Writes Nigerians
OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIANS; Allah IS MY GOD
ALL CITIZENS OF THE
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
Dear Nigerians,
WHY I JOINED ISLAM
My name is Chukwuma Austin Dike. My Islamic name is Mohammed Mustapha. I'm from Mbaitoli Local Government, in Imo state, a graduate of political science from University of Nigeria Nsukka and I am presently serving the nation Nigeria in Konshisha local government in Benue state.
The truth is that I have always loved Islam as a kid in the 80’s in Dakata kano I played most times in the masjid (Mosque). I grew up loving the masjid not until my secondary school days when I left kano. To me is like a reunion but to those who saw the headlines, some said that I am dancing the macabre dance of religious cross carpeting, some said Buhari is my God but I say Allah IS MY GOD.
I join Islam based on CONVICTION and I don’t care about anybody’s interpretation; one with God is in the majority.
The vow: there is no controversy at all among those who knew me before May 29 except they decided to lie. I made the vow three times. Firstly, at wanunne camp in Benue state before some Muslim corpers in November 2014. Secondly, early December in my house before my family members and thirdly before the staff of the school I was teaching Government (my PPA) in February this year. Funny enough everybody thought I was joking.
What was my vow: Some Muslim brothers during a political argument told me last year authoritatively that Allah has given Buhari victory, no matter how hard the then president tries he will not win. I was flabbergasted! Then I vowed if Buhari wins this forth coming election, I will believe that Allah IS THE GREATEST and I will convert to Islam and serve Allah as my God. The vow was made before God and man. Thanks to Allah that I kept my vow.
On the issue of election and general politics Nigerians from the age of 18 and above, if u did not experience anything on the day of the presidential election and May 29 Handover, you are either immature or living a care free life.
On my view on Muhammad Buhari today, I rather advise Him to retain the principal of federal character and totally reject the political theory of winner takes it all; it is not healthy for our modern democracy and the political culture of Nigeria. Corruption is a canker worm; it’s like a virus eating Nigeria from the inside it must be treated like Ebola.
Having said this Mr President I solicit for general amnesty to all corrupt officers that will return his or her looted fund; because if amnesty can be granted to killing, it can also be granted to corruption. Furthermore, as you intensify your fight against corruption also include tribalism and religious intolerance.
NYSC should not be scraped but the allawee should be increased and at least the sum of 200,000 naira should be given to each graduating NYSC member to start a small scale business. This measure to me will reduce unemployment, because already at the camp most corpers had skills acquisition training. May almighty Allah grant you Mr President the wisdom to rule Nigeria, by the special grace of Allah we shall meet in Aljanah.
As a Muslim I have received a lot of death and excommunication threats but in all I thank Almighty Allah for honoring me with Islam, my life and destiny is in the hand of Allah. SALAM.

NYSC Secures N200m Bank Facility For Disbursement To Corps Members As Loans
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday said it had secured
over N200 million bank facility for disbursement to corps members as
loans to enbale them start their businesses.
Director-General of the corps, said this when the Commander, Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Musa Yusuf, paid a familiarisation visit to the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja.
“That has been a challenge; we train these corps members in the camp after the camp we have partners all over the country where corps members also receive training throughout the service year.
“Now, the issue is that when they get this training they don’t have start-up capital but we have been doing a lot to see there is opportunity for them to get startup capital. We have the NYSC foundation as we speak, the NYSC foundation has just approved loan worth N10 million for corps members.
“ Corps members based on the business plan they submit could get as much as N250, 000 and N400, 000. We have also signed an MoU with Bank of Industry though it is yet to take off but we are working on it.
“ A couple of months ago, I also approached Heritage Bank and Heritage Bank is setting aside the sum of N200 million under a package where corps members will get a soft loan and the only collateral they will have to drop will be their discharge certificate.
“ We are also talking with Central Bank Governor to see that a micro credit loan could be arranged specially to address corps members in this category.” He debunked allegations that the corps has yet to provide skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development to corps members, adding that the exercise had been ongoing since 2012.
According to Olawumi, the NYSC has so far trained over 400,000 corps members since the commencement of its skills acquisition programme in over 12 different skills.
He said that the NYSC, under the sponsorship of the World Bank, was currently partnering with an international organisation to train corps members interested in going into the building and property development sector.
Olawumi also called on the Guards Brigade to continue to assist the NYSC in ensuring the safety of corps members serving in the Federal Capital Territory as well as those serving in other states.
The director-general also directed the Director, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) of the corps, Mrs Mary Dan-Abia, to commence partnership with the brigade’s skills acquisition centre in Keffi, Nassarawa State.
Earlier, Brig.-Gen. Yusuf assured the NYSC that the brigade had made adequate security arrangements to ensure the safety of corps members serving in FCT. Yusuf said that part of the security arrangements put in place included regular patrolling of the FCT, adding the safety of corps members was one of the priorities of the Guards Brigade.
He also assured the NYSC boss that the brigade would continue to support and partner with the corps in the area of training of corps members and other related needs. “I am here on behalf of the Guards Brigade, officers and their families to commend you on the collaboration and support we have received from the NYSC so far.
“ I want to promise that this collaboration, support and understanding will be maintained. “ If there is anything we need to improve on in terms of our relationship or training to new corps members or any other area the Guards Brigade is here to support and assist.”

travelling to China to learn how to assemble prepaid meters to be good

Uwakwe said that the country‘s power sector was faced with crucial challenges, such as inadequate supply of power and non-metering of customers.
He said the training was in partnership with Skyrun Industrial Co. Limited, adding that the training was free.
“This is to improve their skills in the modern technology regarding energy of prepaid meters with Nigerian power sector facings crucial challenges, like inadequate of supply, non-metering of customers, courageous and outrageous estimated billing.
“This has, therefore, led to an increase in crime and theft of meters.
“The training will last for two months and when they return, the problem of prepaid meters will be reduced,’’ Uwakwe said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that skyrun is a state-controlled company in China, specialised in developing, producing and handing raw pharmaceutical materials and intermediates.
One of the youths, Mr Obinna Osoagwu, said they would behave well and promised not to abscond.
“I will be needed and respected in my country than in China,’’ Osoagwu said and thanked the government for the opportunity given them. (NAN)
