AAU Medical Student Commits Suicide

Ometere Aduga, a 300-Level medical student of the Ambrose Alli University was said to have committed suicide for reasons not yet known.

According to report, the lady who is a native of Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State was said to have visited a hospital and confided in one of the medical personnel of her desire tom commit suicide because of her pregnancy.

She was counseled against that and was told to report back to the hospital at a later date.

But still nursing the desire to end her life, Aduga was said to have left her son with a neighbor saying she was going to take her bath. After waiting long for her the neighbor went inside her apartment only to discover her naked body dangling from a rope tied to the ceiling fan in the room.

According to a source, “Ometere was a very brilliant girl, who was a 300-Level medical student at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, but she was advised to withdraw due to health reasons.

“She had some mental disorder. She later recovered and got married but her husband is not from here and she has been staying with her parents.”
