Education, he said, enabled one to know his environment and society well.

He spoke in Lagos at a summit organised by the Do the Dream Youth Development Initiative, a youth-inspiring organisation.

The summit, entitled “Leadership and Youth Development,” had over 900 youths in attendance.

Fashola, who commended the organisers of the event, described the summit as a worthy cause.

Defining education as knowing one’s environment and society, the governor added that his administration was ready to promote excursion so that more youths would be aware of their environment.

He enumerated three points needed for the desired change to happen integrity, energy and environment.

He encouraged youths not to give up, declaring that impossibility was an excuse for failure.

A brainchild of Olumadewa Olutayo, the programme was organised by Do the Dream, in collaboration with the Life Initiative and United Nations Information Centre.

It started with a ‘Responsibility Walk’, which, Olutayo said, was to encourage youths to embrace the values of hard work and integrity.

The group was received on behalf of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly by Mudasiru Obasa, who commended Do The Dream for taking a giant stride towards nation building.

He also assured all the participants of the Assembly’s endorsement of the initiative.

He encouraged youths to shun violence, obey the laws and maintain best practices every time and everywhere they find themselves.
