The Federal University Wukari, Taraba State as report has it has
been temporarily closed down. This was as a result of the fracas in the
area which led to the death of no fewer than 22 persons in the area.
Meanwhile a 24-hour curfew has been imposed in the town by the state government.
The university’s Director of Communication, Mr. Jerry Amah while
confirming this said that the suspension of academic activities in the
school is necessary considering the present situation.
According to him, "some of our students and staff are inside Wukari town
and they may not be able to come to school because of the curfew."
"People who were displaced by the crisis have taken over the university
facilities and there is no way we can send them out of this place. It is
also not possible for the university to allow the students to mingle
with the refugees on campus for security reasons,” he emphasized.
