As contained in a bulletin released by the Lagos State University, the
management’s plans to facilitate the refund of the extra amount paid by
some students as school fees following the reduction of the school fees
by the state government has been concluded.
In the bulletin, it was noted that the management has submitted a
request to the state government for a refund of N843 million to the
affected students.
The request had since been reviewed by the Lagos State ministries of Education and Economic Planning and Budget.
It was learnt that the final document would be submitted to the Lagos State Executive Council for approval.
While speaking concerning this, the Vice Chancellor of LASU, Prof John
Obafunwa, said that most of the students are asking that the money
should be deducted from the next session’s fees.
He however noted that the suggestion is coming late since a request for a
refund has been submitted to the state government and has been
approved.
"It won’t be possible again to deduct the difference from the next session fees.” He Stated.
Parents, guardians and the students has been assured that the refund
would be done as soon as the money was released by the government.
