Nigeria’s Ikechukwu Uche and Ghana’s Richmond Boakye were among the scorers on the final weekend of the Spanish La Liga season.
Uche raised his season goal tally to 14 by striking midway through the second half for Villareal in a 2-1 win at Real Sociedad while Boakye netted a stoppage-time consolation as Elche lost 3-1 at Sevilla.
Uche scored his 14th goal in 30 league appearances this season as Villarreal beat Real Sociedad 2-1 to pip the Basques to sixth place.
Elsewhere, Sofiane Feghouli scored his seventh goal of the season and the Algerian also set up the winner for Pablo Piatti as Valencia came from behind to end the season with a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo.
In France, Burkina Faso international, Bakary Kone scored the only goal for Lyon in a 1-0 win away to Nice that guaranteed the departing Remi Garde and his side a place in next year’s Europa League.
Kone rose highest to meet a Clement Grenier free-kick and send a powerful header beyond a helpless Mouez Hassan after six minutes at the Allianz Riviera. It was the defender’s second goal of the season.
Ivory Coast striker, Seydou Doumbia finished leading scorer in Russia with 18 goals despite failing to add to his tally as CSKA clinched the title with a 1-0 Moscow derby victory over Lokomotiv.
