NATCOMS lament poor telecommunication services

Chief Deolu Ogunbanjo, President, National Association of Telecom Subscribers (NATCOMS), on Thursday said the poor services offered by telecommunication operators in Nigeria has become unbearable.
Ogunbanjo told NAN that it was time for Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) to prevail on telecom operators to improve on their services.
According to him, the NCC should intervene decisively to protect the interest of subscribers, who are increasing daily.
“Now that the subscribers are increasing, there is the need for adequate customer care agents to attend to customers’ issues promptly.
“Customers cannot enjoy better services from telecom operators if they cannot get response to their enquiries,” he said.
Ogunbanjo noted that the customer care units of some of the operators were not responding adequately to subscribers queries.
He also advised the operators to provide more infrastructure to effectively reduce the number of dropped calls and improve Internet speed.
According to him, additional masts should be erected to meet up with the increasing number of subscribers in the country.
He urged the operators to employ more personnel to accommodate the growing number of customers on their network.
He decried the willful destruction of base stations, and advised state governments to do everything possible to protect telecom infrastructure.
He acknowledged that the telecom operators were still facing some challenges in the deployment of base stations, and urged the government to find solutions to the problems.
