How to Have an Attractive Stall at a Car Boot Sale

Do you have a lot of stuff, but when you put a lot of effort into setting up your stall, no-one buys anything? Well, here is a great guide to selling stuff more effectively!

N.B For more information and updates visit www.campusflava.com

 Steps

    1
Beforehand, write appealing and eye-catching messages on the pieces of card/paper which say stuff like, "Best Bargains in Town!",
    2
"Anything here 20p!" etc. Draw a coloured star shape around the words to make the signs more appealing!
    3
Arrive at the car booty you're participating at about 9:00.
    4
Set up the tables-the smaller tables in front and the large one behind-and place tablecloths over them.
    5
Place larger objects at the back on the larger table, all spaced out evenly.
    6
Place the smaller objects on the smaller tables, all spaced out evenly.
    7
Make sure that nothing is in stacks, and place any objects like books or CDS in the boxes, the sides facing upwards, and place them on the front tables.
    8
Get out the cassette player and play music on it very faintly, just so the buyers can hear, but so they remain un-distracted and can concentrate on browsing your items.
    9
Be patient and wait till customers come rolling in!
Tips

Organise your objects into certain groups and boxes. This will make customers happy and will allow them to find certain things they may want quickly and with no fuss.
When you're talking to one customer, other customers may need assistance. If you keep them waiting too long, they may walk off.
Get other friends to talk to different customers who need assistance if you're busy with another.
Walk around your stall and look interested in random items at your stall as you walk.
NEVER leave the stall completely unattended. If someone needs the loo, tell someone else to go with them and mind the stall yourself.
Don't look at customers directly, just glance at them when they're not looking from time to time. If you accidentally do, smile nicely and continue walking.
Chat with your friends and point at certain objects on your stall when people are looking. This will make them more interested in certain objects.
Be reasonable with prices! Even if things are worth a lot, you can drop the price a little bit! Search the internet for guides on pricing objects and item value!
Use general selling slang as you talk and interact with your customers like "reduced" or "lower-price" or "great" or "it has this too...".

 Things You'll Need

    You will need:
A mixed range of stuff to sell
    A couple of friends
    Patience
    Arranging skills
A sense to price things sensibly
    Big pieces of card/paper
    Permanent markers
    A cassette/CD Player
Various albums which include classic songs
    Tablecloths
A large table to set up your stuff on, plus little tables and boxes
