Brittany Murphy’s father Angelo Bertolotti plans to sue Lifetime over their upcoming biopic of his late daughter, Brittany Murphy.
Bertolotti told Radar, “Lifetime has not been authorised to produce the true story of Brittany Murphy,” adding, “I intend to litigate Lifetime in a court of law.”
Angelo ordered a new toxicology report on his daughter’s death last year, and claimed a new test showed evidence of possible foul play.
Despite the report proving to be incorrect, he now claims to Radar that there is still an ongoing investigation into her cause of death, that he has launched.
A spokesperson for Brittany’s mother Sharon Murphy had already said she was not consulted for the movie and has not cooperated with the production in any way.
The biopic will follow the deceased actress’ rise to stardom, her career, and the circumstances of her untimely death in a two-hour format for Lifetime.
The project is titled The Brittany Murphy Story and will star newcomer Amanda Fuller as the Clueless star.
The Brittany Murphy Story is the first time the actress’ life has been adapted for the screen and will air on the Lifetime network in September.
