Mr Mohammed Bashar, outgoing Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, said inadequate funding was a major constraint to the completion of East-West Road.
Bashar stated this while handing the affairs of the ministry to his successor in Abuja on Thursday.
“Although Niger Delta is a restive zone, the ship was well stirred, everyone was carried along by me, we are a family,” he said.
The outgoing scribe said he assumed duty in the ministry in Nov. 2012 and had a good working relationship with the management and staff.
He urged his successor to continue with the good relationship he had established with the union and the staff to enhance greater output.
The successor, Mrs Fatimah Bamidele, solicited the support and co-operation of the management and staff of the ministry to ensure the success of its programmes.
Bamidele, who had also served as the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Interior said that she intended to build on the excellent relationship in the ministry.
