Bauchi State to Flush Out Fake and Unqualified Teachers

The Bauchi State government have concluded plans to embark on a verification exercise in order to flush out unqualified teachers as well as those with fake certificate in the state.

The state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu, who stated this at a stakeholders meeting to review the performance of students in the examination conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), said that the meeting identified factors that led to the failure of students.

Aminu listed the factors as nonchalant attitude of parents, lack of commitment on the part of teachers, poor supervision, influx of displaced persons to the state, among others.

These factors, the commissioner said, prompted the need for the teachers verification exercise as he maintained that the minimum qualification for teachers in the state is National Certificate of Education (NCE) but the state have many diploma holders employed as teachers.

Aminu however said that after verification, some teachers will be sent for training while others will be redeployed to relevant offices.
