Successful candidates for the 2013/2014 Post graduate programme in Benue State University have been released. BSU has also released the registration procedures for this successful candidates.

Here's How to check BSU Post Graduate Admission List and Registration Procedures;
Step I - Pay N400.00 for scratch card at the Bank and then proceed to any Cyber Cafe to check your admission status.
Step II - When the above status is known, pay N5,500.00 for your admission letter which you will print online.
Step III - Proceed to the Postgraduate School for screening with all your credentials, including original certificates.
a. Board Room for confirmation of admission status.
b. Room 22 for screening.
c. Board Room for documentation and confirmation of screening.
Step IV - If successful, proceed to check and pay the prescribed fees on-line, at Fidelity Bank Plc, Makurdi.
Step V - After paying School fees on-line, collect stamped receipt and proceed to the Postgraduate School for further registration and collection of files.
Step VI - After this process, register and print out your courses and other registration materials online.

Rep Reports: ‘NUC’s accreditation procedure is fraudulent’
The House of Representatives on Thursday faulted the procedure for
accreditation of academic programmes of Nigerian universities by the
National Universities Commission.
It said the procedure appeared to be “fraudulent” as it was designed to favour institutions willing to do the “bidding of the leadership of the NUC.”
In a resolution passed in Abuja, the House condemned the “imbalance” in accreditation of programmes.
The House asked its Committee on Education to investigate the matter and determine whether Nigerian universities met the minimum standards of accreditation.

Unemployment rate is high. Why? Some say its because of excessive corruption. No it's not.
Or Is it from the Universities? Definitely not.
Our graduates are unemployed because of a plethora of reasons.
The main reason being laziness and tenacious fantasies.
In terms of communication, our graduates cannot make a complete sentence. Their grasp of the English language is so poor that interviewers find it hard to understand them (I'm a young employer).
Basic English language should be learnt in nursery, Primary school and high school only. Before you get admitted into a university, they believe you are an adult that can think for him/herself. A university teaches you how to survive in life, and not how to speak English or force you to read. Most students dont like reading, they learn to speak by hearing and emulation. You hear things like"...according to Sen. Patrick Obahiagbon...". They want to learn the fanciful words before learning when to differentiate between 'their' and 'there'.
So dont blame our universities for our poor graduates' vocabularies.
Next, unemployment is high because our graduates just wanted to enter a university because it was the 'in thing' or they just want to be called a 'graduate'.
They don't know that a University prepares one for the harsh reality of life. That's why you should always develop your talent; study a course based on your talent.
Next, unemployment is high because our graduates have no plans after graduation.
Their plans are to
1. graduate,
2. enjoy nysc,
3. get a 7am-6pm Job with a successful bank,
4. get enlisted as one of those soon to be fired after a massive shake up in the bank,
5. get fired,
6. repeats from no 3
...and the cycle continues...but these people still fantasize on being as rich as Dangote. How?
Now, this is where I'll put the blame on Nigerian Universities. No pun intended but our education sector is still a slave to our colonial masters.
We're still making use of the British system of education, that basically teaches you how to 'carry on' in life, instead of the American system of education that teaches you how to 'start from scratch and survive' in life.
Little wonder Britain is so small and America is so large. A graduate of the American system doesn't have the mindset to 'work for someone'. He/she wants to start something new....and there're alot of new things to be discovered, just look around and think outside the box.
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I used my brilliance to tout around, jumping from different Nigerian universities till I was almost 28.
One day, I told myself that my life is going nowhere. At 28, not a graduate, no investments, nothing. I was just a nobody.
I got admission into a University in US. I promised to study, and I really studied. I didn't have a choice, my sponsor warned me that I'll have to work and study. Only my tuition, accommodation and fees will be paid, directly into the schools account.
I didn't want to work, so after about 2 months, my account was in the red, no source of money for that semester. It affected my studies for sometime till I thought of a plan to make money while maintaining my steadfast studiousness.
I drafted a list of all my Instructors (lecturers). I knew I had excellent grades so it wouldn't be difficult to get money off them. Before the end of that semester, I was almost $3000 richer from teacher-begging.
But I didn't know that good things still awaited. One of the lecturer advised me to apply for a scholarship. That it would make finances easier on me and my sponsor. I though that was a good Idea, till I advanced on it; I decided to apply for scholarship and not tell my sponsor.
I was on scholarship throughout my undergrad days. My sponsor paid my fees directly into the school account, even if I told the person that I was on scholarship, he/she wouldn't believe me.
So I read, maintained my A+ grades, collected money from instructors, the school president, the dean (they are always happy to help an honor student).
My main motivation was the money piling up in the school account. If you know the tuition and fees of unis in the states, do the math...calculate 5 full semesters and 4 summer semesters....that's how much that was waiting for me when I graduated (when you graduate, the school gives you all excess monies in your school account).
This can be applied in Nigerian Universities.
That's how I got the finances to start up and be my own boss.
Try and see money where no one sees it.
I immediately pursued my masters without delay. And now I've invested and set.
Being a humble Nigerian, I want to serve my country briefly for 10yrs and fully expend my skills there...while watching my investments grow.

I urge students to try and think outside the box. There are alot...a damn lot...of ways to make money to propel you and your plans to the future, just make use of your only true friend...your brain. It's begging you to use it.
You guys should really stop graduating from school, just to contribute to the rate of unemployment in Nigeria.

Important Reminder: JAMB 2014 UTME Registration Ends March 9
We just gathered that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board -JAMB
will be closing registration for 2014 UTME on the 9th of March, 2014.
This is against the earlier decision to end the registration exercise on the 14th of March.
We therefore advise that all interested candidates who hitherto are not registered should take action on or before the said date.
It is also worthy of note that the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and the Dual Based Test (DBT) Examination Date is Saturday, April 12, 2014. Time – 6:00am.

Graduates Decry Delay In Certificate Issuance - Gbenga Adeniji
Graduates of tertiary institutions in Nigeria contend with the stress of obtaining their certificates.
Miss Ugochi Nwachukwu graduated from the Department of Mass Communication, University of Nigeria Nsukka in November 2010. She was happy to have scaled the hurdles of clearance in some of the varsity’s units and was glad about embarking on the compulsory one-year National Youth Serve Corps scheme.
After her service year, she went back to her alma mater in order to obtain her certificate. Nwachukwu never suspected there would be delay in the collection of the certificate.
The workers in the university’s Exam and Records department however kept asking her to go and return at a later date.
She said, ‘‘My result was not released with the first batch because of the slow manner of working on our files. I had duly completed the required clearance. After my result was released, I went to collect my certificate but was told it was not ready.
I was issued a statement of result with which I embarked on the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps scheme. But it was only tenable for a year after which one is expected to collect his or her certificate. I went to the school many times but the Exams and Records section was unable to give me any reason why my certificate was not ready.’’
It took her many trips to the university before luck smiled on her and she was able to collect her certificate. She noted that it was important for tertiary institutions to start early processing of the certificates of final year students once their results had been approved in order to forestall delay.
The Public Relations Officer of UNN, Mr. Gabriel Ndu, said he was handling an emergency after he patiently listened to the request of our correspondent that he should comment on the development.
He stated, ‘‘I am in an emergency right now. I will get back to you.’’
Nwachukwu is however not the only graduate who has experienced frustration in the course of trying to collect certificates. Mr. Abayomi Adebowale who studied in one of the external centres of the Lagos State University also has a similar experience. In his own case, he graduated in 2008 but could not collect his certificate until after three years.
Our correspondent learn't that it was even easy for his set because some of those who graduated after them were still going to the institution to collect their certificates.
‘‘I am not sure if full-time students of the school experience the same thing but it is common among part-time students. It is important that the school authorities look into the case because part-time students pay more than full-time especially in this regime of high school fees,’’ he said.
Adebowale also linked the problem of delay in the issuance of certificates to the backlog of results of the institution’s part-time graduates.
One of the full-time graduates of the institution, Mr. Tunde Oyelami, however said graduates obtain their certificates after tendering their statements of results.
‘‘It did not take me long to collect my certificate. I graduated in 2003 and collected my certificate in 2004. Once a graduate presents his or her statement of result after being cleared, getting his certificate cannot be difficult.
Even my master’s certificate is ready but I have not collected it because I have not completed clearance. Those who studied in the university’s external centres may have their certificates delayed because of other reasons. But for full-time graduates, it is not hard to collect certificates,’’ he added.
The university’s Acting Director, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Dr. Sola Fosudo, told our correspondent that any student having problems in collecting his or her certificate should write to the varsity’s vice-chancellor.
Abiola Morakinyo, who studied Master of Business Administration (Executive) from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, said it took him five years to get his certificate.
He said after his set graduated in 2008 and held its convocation in December 11, 2009, their certificates were only issued to them in 2013 after several complaints. Morakinyo added that the school authorities later told them that his set was inadvertently omitted.
A graduate of OAU, Mrs. Abigail Fadehan, however said it was not difficult collecting a certificate from the university once a graduate fulfils all obligations.
She said, ‘‘By a graduate fulfilling all obligations, I mean ensuring he or she undergoes prompt clearance in the required units; bursary, library, department and so on. I know that OAU certificates are issued to deserving graduates immediately after convocation. It is the same with transcripts. It did not take me a year to collect my certificate while it took me just two days to get my transcripts.’’
Fadehan’s claim was corroborated by the PRO of OAU, Mr. Biodun Olanrewaju.
Olanrewaju said the school authorities issue certificates to final year students immediately the Senate approves their results.
He stated, ‘‘The process of collecting certificates in OAU used to be simple but we have now made it simpler. We have a computerised system which makes it easy to issue certificates to our graduates after convocation. Once a graduate has done the required clearance, we commence the process of issuance. Though we have a forgery-proof system in place, we often ask the owners to come for collection in order to authenticate that we are giving the certificate to the original owner.’’
Timothy Francis, who graduated from the University of Lagos in 2008, said he was unable to collect his certificate from the university on time because of what he described as ‘administrative bottlenecks.’
He added that he couldn’t find some of the receipts he needed to tender in a particular unit for clearance. ‘‘I was virtually moving from one office to the other because there was no way I could get cleared without the receipt. It was later I got everything sorted out and that was two years after graduation. Things seem to have changed now because of the advent of technology. I also think the reason some people have not collected their certificates is because there are some conditions that their universities have set for them to meet,’’ he said.
According to him, tertiary institutions should design processes to make it easy for genuine graduates to collect their certificates after convocation.
It was learnt that in order to check errors, the UNILAG authorities have recently put in place an arrangement to monitor certificates while processing them.
The Directorate of Academic Affairs has initiated a certificate processing form which final year students could download and make corrections where necessary.
A graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State, Timothy Oriloye, said he collected his certificate a year after graduation because he was determined to overcome any problem that could hinder him.
‘‘Some students are the cause of the reason why they do not get their certificates on time. They defer what they are supposed to do till the last minute, ’’ he said.

Aspiring Pre-degree students of the Delta State University (DELSU)
Abraka are hereby advised to visit the school portal and print their
seat number and exam venue using their Pre-degree Application number
issued to them upon registration.
The need to re-print slips arose following several changes made on the pre-degree application portal recently.
It is expected that the new (valid) seat number for each candidate will be contained in the slip re-printed. This will guide the applicant properly on exam date, venue and seating position.

FUTMINNA Basketball Team Paints OAU Red!
The Federal University of Technology, Minna basketball team has painted
the on-going Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA) red with their
mesmerising skills and dexterity. The coach Abubakar Aliyu-tutored team
have dominated the basketball event with an impeccable record of six
wins from six matches and have been tipped by pundits to clinch the gold
medal.

The team defeated the host university's team 55-51 in a keenly contested opener and continued their dominance with an emphatic 45-14 win over Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. This was followed up with a 62- 34 win over University of Jos team boasting some dexterous hands while University of Ibadan fell 52-23.The team went on to trounce Benson Idahosa University 62-26 and out-dunked Niger Delta University 34-27 to complete their superlative unbeaten run in the group stage. The team lost 37-32 to University of Lagos in the semi final and defeated Obafemi Awolowo University OAU 51/40 to clinch another bronze medal for Team FUTMINNA.
As at press time, Team FUTMINNA has won five bronze medals in three different sports. The institution’s first medal was won by Ibrahim Saidu Aisha, a 400 level student of Science Education in Taekwondo (Heavy weight category) while Urenna Obioma (500 SVG dept) and Loveth Agu (500 level Animal Production dept) also won bronze in Badminton mixed doubles. Sekina Teniola Bello (a 400 level Chemistry dept student) clinched the team's third bronze medal in taekwondo (Bantam category).
It would be recalled that Team FUTMinna departed Minna, Niger State for the 24th NUGA, holding at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State on Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB was on ground to bid the athletes and officials farewell. In his speech, Prof. Akanji urged the athletes to be good ambassadors of the institution by obeying the rules and regulations of the Games and making the university proud at the event.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB has commenced the sale
of Direct Entry Admission forms for 2014/2015 admission year. All
prospective 2014 D.E candidates are hereby informed that the JAMB 2014
Direct Entry e- Registration is on.
The online application access scratch card is sold in JAMB state offices nationwide and also available in major commercial banks across Nigeria.
2014 Direct Entry Candidates can now process their registration on the JAMB Direct Entry 2014 e-Registration Portal via the link below;

Skales officially parts ways with EME
We all saw this coming right? Skales has parted ways with EME records .His contract expired and they decided not to renew his contract because it wasn't profitable any more. They have spent alot on him though the years and haven't recouped their investment .All traces of EME has been deleted from his social media accounts .Though unsigned, he is with M.et.tal management.
Wizkid and Skales were signed in 2010 and Skales who was signed on as a rapper later transformed into a singer. Banky had once told a magazine that his mistake was not letting Skales fully develop or find his niche before signing him.Contrary to rumours that the label asked him to sing, it was actually Skales who decided to start singing. The Federal Polytechnic Offa (Offapoly) today announced suspension of
the over 10 months old strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union
of Polytechnics (ASUP).
The School management, after about 2-hours congress of ASUP, Offa Polytechnic Branch, said the strike will discontinue with immediate effect in the institution.
Students are expected to return to school between now and Monday as academic activities are to set-off without delay.

In 1976 the Faculty of Medicine was incorporated into Muhimbili Hospital to form the Muhimbili Medical Centre (MMC).
