52-Year Old Teacher Caught Ra*ping 5 Pupils In Classroom

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 52-year-old school teacher, Isaac Ikiabeke, for allegedly raping a five-year-old pupil in the Ikorodu area of the state.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Ikiabeke, who is also the proprietor of the school, Brighter Glory School, located on Etunrere Street, raped his victim after school hours.
The victim, five-year-old Pat (pseudonym), told our correspondent the father of three had allegedly raped her 10 times.
She said, “He has been doing it for some time. He has done it more than 10 times. I am not the only one. He does it with some of us after school hours. I could not tell anybody because he said if I did he would beat me.”
The victim’s grandfather explained to our correspondent that his attention was drawn to the sexual assault by some of Pat’s classmates.
He said he was shocked, as well as disappointed in Ikiabeke, whom he regarded as a respectable person.

He said, “Pat and her younger sister stay with me and they attend the school. I never suspected anything initially, except that I observed she would be holding her belly and turning on the bed and when I asked her what happened, she would say she was having stomachache.

“It was one of her classmates that told me what the school owner had been doing to her and I quickly went to report at the station, after which he was arrested.”
Our correspondent was also told that the matter was brought to the attention of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender.
A police source told PUNCH Metro that the police got complaints from two victims.
He said a three-year-old pupil, who was equally raped by the suspect, was in a critical condition in a hospital.
He said, “There were actually two pupils that we were told he raped. The atrocity had been going on for a long time before he was arrested.”
Our correspondent was told that Pat had also been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police on Monday arraigned Ikiabeke before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court on one count of unlawful sexual intercourse.
The charge read, “That you, Isaac Ikiabeke, on June 9, 2015, at about 3pm, at Brighter Glory School, Etunrere Street, Ikorodu, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did have unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, (name withheld) aged five years and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 258 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial.
He was represented by two counsel – Marcus Imoudu and Kola Afolayan.
Also in court were A.O. Komolafe and B.N. Ameh of the OPD, who held brief for the complainant.
Imoudu prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail in liberal terms.
But the police prosecutor, Cyril Ejiofor, of the State Department of Criminal Investigation, objected to the bail application.
He said, “While I agree that bail is at the discretion of the court, I oppose the bail application of the defence counsel. He has not given any cogent reason to the court for which the defendant should be granted bail.
“The charge before the court is punishable by life imprisonment. And although we don’t want to go into proof of evidence, I want the court to take cognisance of the fact that two minors are involved in the substantive charge.
“This is a vice that is affecting society. I want the court to look at the interest of the state in granting bail to the defendant.”
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Soladoye, in her ruling, said the offence was bailable.
She thereafter admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.
“One of the sureties must be a school proprietor or proprietress, while the second surety must be a serving civil servant of Grade Level 17,” she added.
The case was adjourned till August 10, 2015.

#StopRapeNow: College seeks justice over student’s alleged rape by Nigeria Police officer, (ASP), Mr John Mafoya

There has been over five years of mutual trust and harmony between the Osiele Police Post and students of the Federal College of Education (FCE) , Abeokuta, Ogun State, but that trust ruptured, following an allegation of multiple rape of a Primary Education Studies (PES) student of the College by Mafoya.
It was not the first time the officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr John Mafoya would be accused of rape. He was earlier said to have had sex with…..
another student without her consent. The girl’s father petitioned the police, and he is still awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
The latest case began last April 30 when the victim was first detained at the Osiele Police Post for participating in a group assault on a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Mr. Kareem Alaba.
Alaba was said to have made  advances at the girl during her visit to his house at Arokoje village in Abule Obantoko area of Abeokuta.
The corps member, it was alleged, attempted to rape her when she would not “play ball”.
It was gathered that the girl whose dress was torn while struggling to free herself returned to campus and reported the incident to her male friends.
Alaba was invited to the campus by the girl, and was beaten up by her male friends.
Mafoya was said to have ordered the arrest and detention of the girl even as he also personally took over the case.
He allegedly drove her to his residence at Alanco, raped her  before bringing her back to the police post by 10.30 pm, where  he raped her again.
It was gathered that students raised N3,000 the following day to effect their colleague’s release.
Although, the traumatised victim, it was learnt, could not recount the rape encounter at the FCE’s security unit, she managed to record what transpired on her cell phone.
It was also gathered that some officers, appalled by the alleged act, reported the incident to the  Commissioner of Police, Val Ntomchukwu, who ordered an investigation.

Why First Class Students In School Never Become First Class People In Life

Hardly do first class graduates become first class personality
While in University, we often spend too much energy in acquiring good grades that we forget to acquire good class personality.
After concentrating all energy in acquiring the first class grades, we transform into a society where first class grades don’t matter much as having a first class personality.
In school, its easy to read, memorize and pass exams, but in real life, there is no sure book of life to progress, no memorizing, no exams, just you and your inbuilt capability which require no contest with anybody.
Those who eventually become big in life are mostly people who hardly make good grades in school.

Anifowoshe Titilope had reported that, Prof. Abletor Sedofia from University of Ghana has this to say to us:
“Academic excellence is overrated!
Did I just say that? Oh, yes, I said it. Being top of your class does not necessarily guarantee that you will be at the top of life. You could graduate as the best student in Finance but it doesn’t mean you will make more money than everybody else.

The best graduating Law student does not necessarily become the best lawyer. The fact is life requires more than the ability to understand a concept, memorise it and reproduce it in an exam. School rewards people for their memory. Life rewards people for their imagination.
School rewards caution, life rewards daring. School hails those who live by the rules. Life exalts those who break the rules and set new ones. So do I mean people shouldn’t study hard in school? Oh, no, you should. But don’t sacrifice every other thing on the altar of First Class.
Don’t limit yourself to the classroom. Do something practical. Take a leadership position. Start a business and fail. That’s a better Entrepreneurship 101.Join or start an association. Contest an election and lose. It will teach something Political Science 101 will not teach you. Attend a seminar.
Read books outside the scope of your course. Go on missions and win a soul for eternal rewards… Do something you believe in!
Think less of becoming an excellent student but think more of becoming an excellent person. Make the world your classroom !
