Disturbed by the wave of strikes and industrial crises going on in all sectors of the nation's economy, the Federal Government has called on the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to intervene and assist Nigeria with expert and technical advice.
Minister of Labour and Productivity, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, made the appeal to the ILO to assist Nigeria with "expert advice and technical assistance," to enable the present administration to effectively tackle the consistent labour demands and industrial actions.

He stated that the widespread strikes in all areas of the nation's socio-economic life were already inflicting untold hardship on many Nigerians.
The Minister, who was represented by his Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Kassim, made the remarks while receiving the ILO Director of Industrial and Employment Relations, Professor Tayo Fashoyin in Abuja on Thursday..
He urged Professor Fashoyin to assist Nigeria with available information within his portfolio, which would enable the nation to get necessary interventions from the ILO, especially in areas of symposium, lecture and workshops on resolving industrial conflicts.
The minister disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity had been able to push the pending labour bills through the Federal Executive Council for observation which, if passed into law, would solve some of the labour problems in the country.
