‘We encourage our students to bring laurels home’

Students of the Nigerian Turkish International Colleges (NTIC) have brought honour to Nigeria through their international achievements. With about 13 branches in the country, the students have won more than 100 laurels at international competitions in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science.
In an interview with Daily Sun recently, Mr. Kamil Kemanci who is the Principal of Nigerian Turkish International College in Lagos, revealed why NTIC remains the choice place for learning and how students are encouraged to shine at international competitions.
He also spoke on the proposed Nigerian Turkish Nile University, Abuja.

How NTIC berthed in Nigeria

NTIC has a history of 12 years. It started in 1997 in Abuja in a small rented building. It started with a primary and secondary school. After two years, they applied for a permanent site, which was approved by the government in Abuja. After two years, the school moved to the permanent site in Wuse II, Abuja. Later, other schools and branches started coming up.
Now, we have thirteen branches in Nigeria, we have schools in Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Lagos, Ogun and Abuja. The schools were established to serve both countries, Nigeria and Turkey in several aspects. Nigerian Turkish colleges are fertile grounds for promoting academic excellence especially in the sciences. Our schools are avenues for promoting bilateral business relationship with both sides and our students are encouraged to participate in international competition and various social activities.
We have boarding schools, day schools, co-educational schools, boy's schools, girls schools, different kinds of schools. There is a university coming up which we hope to start in August.
Our vision is to strive through the provision of broad based, appropriate and adequate curricular offering, using state of the art technology to provide qualitative and functional science oriented education of international standard to our students, irrespective of nationality, religion or tribe.
