Steps

    1
Look up these big selling (and new) consoles: 3ds, PS vita, Wii, (or Wii u) Ps3, Ps4, Xbox 360, or a PC.
    2
Think about your budget. If you are still living in a house with ur mum and want a game system with good sound, and lots of ways to socialize, and tons of great games and a movie Blu ray player and a special TV to see 3d and to be able to see only your screen on split screen then get the ps3. It is also good to get the PS vita, a amazing system that lets you play AR, motion control, and other neat features. Though the 3ds is a good system as well, and can still play AR, and other internet things.
    3
On The other hand, if you just want a system with lots of family games and is a fan of the famous mario party series or a fan of mario (Because frankly, I'm not a fan of a silent Italian jumping on turtles to save a American princess....can't you just use guns? I know Soap Mc Tavish can!) then get the wii. there are TONS of great games on their, like new super Mario brothers Wii or Mario party 9! and even virtual console for you retro gamers out there.
    4
But, if you have a steady budget coming in and have a bit of elbow room and opportunity, than it's best to get the Xbox 360! You gamers are calling Microsoft n00bz because they make you pay monthly to be able to play Xbox live, but there are also amazing game franchisees such as Halo, Gears of War, and the kinect, which requires no controller, because YOU are the controller when you are using the kinect, because you can manipulate the menus, fight baddies, work out, and for you space geeks all interested in star wars and how the Jedi can manipulate all their computers without touching anything or just like the crazy crap they get into, there is even a kinect game for it!
    5
Or if you have to use work instead, get a computer! Though there are lots of gamer computers for you hardcore gamers looking to drive a car with a pimped up logitech wheel, or shoot the crap outa a air plane in style with a pimped up.... okay you get the idea.

 Tips

If you want free games, then you can prove your undying loyalty to Sony by being a PlayStation plus member.
If you also want to know popular games, then just get a game informer magazine.

 Warnings

PC are prone to viruses, but you can protect it by only going on sights you read in your game informer, or sights featured in legal movies and shows, and sites on Wikipedia, like ROBLOX, or world of Warcraft. Even Minecraft is safe!
The home consoles like the ps3 can be prone to hackers and don't think I'm playing, that piece of crap hacker almost shut down PSN for good! look here:[[1]]
Don't download any stuff unless you are triple sure that it is safe. I saw a dude download a World of Warcraft guy download a update that was a key logger in disguise because he was raiding a cave with his guild, and he got his sword he wanted, went to sleep, and wanted to use his sword, but when he got online again, his 3 months went down the drain.
