Governors of the South-East states have joined millions of Nigerians in condemning Wednesday’s blasts that rocked EMAB Plaza in the Wuse 2 Area of Abuja.
A statement by the Chairman, South-East Governors’ Forum , Theodore Orji of Abia State, and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, expressed the sympathy of the governors for the families of the victims of the blast.
The governors enjoined Nigerians not to give up hope in the face of the daunting security challenges in the country, assuring that the country would certainly win the war against terrorism.
They however called for more security consciousness among the citizenry, while urging Nigerians to promptly alert security agencies about any suspicious movements, objects or persons around them.
The governors, who described the bombing as “ devilish and an act of wickedness “ expressed faith on the measures taken by the Federal Government to contain the escalating activities of insurgents in the country.
Part of the statement read, “We call on Nigerians not to be deterred in the face of terror as Federal Government has the capacity to contain it. All suspicious movements within your domain should be reported to the police and other security agencies for prompt action to be taken.
“We want to reassure Nigerians that very soon insurgency and terrorism will become a thing of the past. Nigeria will continue to remain one united and indivisible entity.”
