Chaplain calls for one week mourning over insurgency

Former Chaplain of the Aso Rock, Prof. Yusuf Obaje, has called for declaration of one week of mourning as well as fasting and pray to God for solution to the increasing waves of insecurity in the country.
Obaje said this while delivering the pre-convocation lecture of the Bowen University, Iwo on Osun State on Friday.
Obaje said this just as the President of Nigerian Baptists Convention, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, while speaking at the ninth convocation of the university on Saturday called on youths in the country to shun cultism and immoralities.
Obaje, who was the chaplain at Aso Rock during the reign of former President Olusegun Obasanjo spoke on ‘The Nigerian equation and the categorical imperative of national ideology’, said there was the need for formulation of national ideology in Nigeria.
He stated that the formulation of a national ideology would assist in the promotion of individual and collective loyalty to both God and the country.
Obaje said, “We call for an immediate declaration of a week of national mourning, repentance, fasting and prayers for God’s intervention in our national crises, particularly our national insecurity.
