How to Make Decorative Bow and Arrows

Ever gotten bored outdoors with literally nothing to do? Or are you stuck on what to get your friend for Christmas or a birthday? If your friend is the type who likes archery, maybe making them a wall ornament that reminds them of their favorite sport might do the trick.

Steps
  1. 1
Find a curved, bow shaped stick. Since you aren't going to be using it for actual shooting, any type of wood should be fine as long as it is sturdy.

  2. 2
Sand and decorate the bow. This is optional. If you want to, you can paint it or add any designs.

  3. 3
Find a length of ribbon. This can be any color. You can get one that is just the right size from the ribbon cake stores use to secure a cake box. Remember that the ribbon should be about 1 1/2 times the length of the bow.

  4. 4
Wrap the ribbon around the bow starting at the base of one end. Continue wrapping the ribbon around the bow until you reach the other end.

  5. 5
Pull the ribbon across to the end where you started. This should function as a substitute bow string.

  6. 6
Secure the ribbon with glue or by tying a knot. If there is any ribbon left over, you can cut it.

  7. 7
Garnish the bow or add more designs if needed.

  8. 8
Find straight twigs or sticks for arrows. Sand them and paint them if needed. If you have feathers, you can also fletch the arrows.

    Tips
  • When wrapping the ribbon around the bow, do so slowly and carefully. This is so that the ribbon would look neat.
  • For garnishes, you may want to use things like beads, feathers or small stones.
  • It is best if you use a glue gun for sticking the decorations on.
