LAUTECH VC Sets Up Panel To Investigate The Death Of A 400 Level Student

The Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University has set up a panel to investigate the death of a 400 Level students of the institution.

Kolawole Fatai of Chemical Engineering Department was said to be playing foot ball with his friends when he suddenly slumped.

According to an eye witness,“he fainted on the field and we took him to the health center, unfortunately the officials were full of themselves,initially, they were adamant to admit him stating that he must present health centre card before he can be attended to”.

“As a result of several number of students outburst the officials gave it up and attended to him, but another surprise sprung up when we were told there is no oxygen in the oxygen machine”.

“Then we requested for the health centre ambulance, can you believe we were told that the driver with the ambulance went on an errand, to buy food for some staff.”

When it was obvious that the health centre could not provide the needed attention to Kolawole, efforts were made to take him to Bowen hospital by the students, unfortunately he died on the way.

Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Prof. R.O.R Kalilu- Member.

Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Prof. S.S Taiwo- Member.

President Student’s Union- Bakare Solace- Member.

Speaker, Student’s Representatives Council, Speaker Adeniyi.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

– To investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the student- Kolawole Fatai Morenikeji {Matric No- 113784}.

– To investigate how the University Health Centre handled the case.

– To investigate the General Attitude of Health Centre Staff to Students and Staff.

– To recommend how to remedy any observed lapse in future.
