The Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University has set up a panel
to investigate the death of a 400 Level students of the institution.
Kolawole Fatai of Chemical Engineering Department was said to be playing foot ball with his friends when he suddenly slumped.
According
to an eye witness,“he fainted on the field and we took him to the
health center, unfortunately the officials were full of
themselves, initially, they were adamant to admit him stating that he
must present health centre card before he can be attended to”.
“As
a result of several number of students outburst the officials gave it
up and attended to him, but another surprise sprung up when we were told
there is no oxygen in the oxygen machine”.
“Then we requested
for the health centre ambulance, can you believe we were told that the
driver with the ambulance went on an errand, to buy food for some
staff.”
When it was obvious that the health centre could not
provide the needed attention to Kolawole, efforts were made to take him
to Bowen hospital by the students, unfortunately he died on the way.
