UNILORIN 2012/2013 Students' Accommodation Procedure & Cost

UNILORIN 2012/ 2013 STUDENTS’ACCOMMODATION

The University has limited number of bed spaces for both male and female students in the 2012/2013 academic session. Students who have to arrange their accommodation off campus are hereby advised to ensure they secure accommodation in areas that are decent, safe and not isolated, and to be good ambassadors of the university wherever they reside.

- Returning students to check their portals for their good standing status,
- Please note that only returning students are to apply for bed spaces and services online
now,
- Note also that allocation is done proportionally this session on faculty basis, still
following, first-come-first-served principles. Hence, students are to make reservation based
on available spaces allocated to their faculty.
- Fresh students should not apply for allocation as they would only be allocated after due clearance by the University
- Students on IT, SWEPS, FPT. etc during the session, especially around Ilorin are advised to seek accommodation on campus and so can stay in residence during long vacation.

The University has the following categories of accommodation on campus:

2. POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS HOSTEL
3. UNILORIN SCIENTIFIC MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE HOSTEL (PRIVATE)
4. UNILORIN PACE-SETTERS STAFF MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY
HOSTEL (PRIVATE)

1. MAIN GENERAL HOSTELS – N28, 000.00 per bed space
- Allocation is through online application only
The hostel operates a Village System – with rooms of 2, 4, 6 and 8
Village I - Male Hostel
Village II (Lagos) - Female
Village IIIa (Abuja) - Female
Village IIIb (Kwara) - Female
Village IV (Zamfara) - Female
Village V (Trunil) - Female
- All rooms are tiled with book shelves and wardrobes.
- All rooms are equipped with orthopaedic mattresses and pillows.
- Additional features for TRUNIL – Self contained room, each with kitchenette, bath and
toilet

BED SPACE RESERVATION AND PAYMENT PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
1. You must ensure all Charges are correct before committing payment
2. Failure to make confirmation before payment is at your own risk
3. Payments made are not refundable
PROCEDURE:
1. Make reservation online
2. Make payment of N28,000.00 online through the Portal.
3. Payment must be made within 72 hours of reservation. Failure to pay within the
specified duration will automatically lead to the cancellation of your reservation.
4. Payment platform
You are to ensure you have sufficient amount on your Card.
5. Print the generated UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN PAYMENT RECEIPT online.
6. Print completed Hostel Application Form
7. Proceed to the Student Affairs Office for bed-space allocation.
CONDITIONS: To be considered for hostel allocation, you must agree to the following:
1. TO FULLY AND ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE DAILY, WEEKLY, BI-MONTHLY
CLEANING OF THE HOSTEL/ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE.
2. NOT TO TAMPER WITH ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS, FIXTURE AND FITTINGS
IN THE HALL OF RESIDENCE.
3. NOT TO USE ELECTRIC COOKER/HOT PLATE IN THE HALL OF RESIDENCE
4. NOT TO COOK IN THE ROOMS EXCEPT IN THE KITCHENETTE WHICH IS
DESIGNATED FOR SUCH PURPOSE
5. NOT TO WASH IN THE ROOMS EXCEPT IN THE LAUNDRY WHICH IS
DESIGNATED FOR SUCH PURPOSE.
6. TO USE THE TOILET FACILITIES DECENTLY (THE USE OF POLYTHENE BAGS IN
THE WC IS PROHIBITED)
7. NOT TO PASTE POSTERS, BANNERS ON UNAUTHORIZED PLACES IN THE HALL
OF RESIDENCE/UNIVERSITY
8. NOT TO ALLOW SQUATTING OR TRANSFER OR SELL ANY BED SPACE ALLOCATED
TO YOU
9. NOT TO DO ANYTHING WHICH MAY LIKELY DISRUPT THE NORMAL LIFE IN ANY
HALL OF RESIDENCE OR ENGAGE IN NOISY RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES, OR BE
ASSOCIATED WITH ANYTHING CRIMINAL, ANTI-SOCIAL, SECRET SOCIETY,
CULTISM OR ANY OTHER ACT CONSIDERED IMPROPER OR UNLAWFUL.
10. EVERY HOSTEL OCCUPANT MUST BRING WITH HIM/HER 2 BEDSHEETS AND 1
BLANKET
11. BEDS MUST BE PROPERLY LAID AT ALL TIMES
12. NOT TO VIOLATE THE UNIVERSITY DRESS CODE
VISITORS ARE ALLOWED ONLY IN COMMON ROOMS, AND NOT IN INDIVIDUAL
ROOMS.
Penalty for the breach of any of the foregoing stipulations is as contained in the Students
Handbook of Information and Regulations to be given to you in the course of registration.

2. POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS’ HOSTEL
Fully equipped with air conditioner, plasma TV and private cooker Self-contained with bath, toilet and kitchenette Available also for undergraduate but priority will be given to postgraduate students
Charges:

Single occupant – N170,000.00k
Double occupants – N85,000.00k per bed space
Allocation done through the Centre for International Education

3. UNILORIN SCIENTIFIC MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY HOSTEL
(PRIVATE)
- The hostel is located opposite TRUNIL Hostel
- All rooms equipped with reading table, two chairs, bookshelves and reading lamps
- Each room is self-contained with toilet, bath and kitchenette
- A mini market is joined to the common room operated by the Cooperative Society
- No of Occupant: Two per room
- Charge per bed space - N75,000.00k, maximum of two per room
- Allocation is on first come first serve
- Allocation will be done directly by the Society’s Officer – 08033704916
- Caution deposit of N5,000.00k required

4. UNILORIN PACE-SETTERS STAFF MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY
HOSTEL (PRIVATE)
- The hostel is located close to Unilorin Scientific Multipurpose hostel opposite TRUNIL
hostel
- Well furnished common room
- Reading lamp for each ward
- Reading table for each ward
- Kitchenette and bathroom in each room
- Wardrobe for each ward
- Good security provision
- Two occupants per room
- Charge per bed space #90,000.00k
