Osun sets up anti-Ebola committee

The Osun State Government has inaugurated five committees on how to prevent Ebola virus from spreading into the state.

The Commissioner for Health in Osun State, Dr. Temitope Ilori, said the five committees were inaugurated to ensure that the people of the state were adequately sensitised to know how they could contract the virus and what to do to keep themselves safe.

According to her, the five committees are Medical, Information and Environment, Forestry, Education and Women Advocacy Committees.

She stressed that each of the committees would play the role of sensitisation in order to ensure quality and preventive control of the Ebola virus in the state.

The committee members were drawn from the ministries of Information, Agriculture and Food Security, Environment, Women and Children Affairs and   Tourism.

Members are also drawn from non-governmental bodies such as International Rotary Club, Red Cross, market women, religious leaders, traditionalists, National Orientation Agency and the Federal Road Safety Corps.

Medical personnel are from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, the World Health Organisation and other sectors of the society.
