Police Arrest 50 Protesting JAMB Candidates

Report reaching liveschoolnews.com.ng HQ has it that over 300 candidates who registered for 2015 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination conducted by JAMB on Monday causes pandemonium at the JAMB Zonal Office in Makurdi Following the inability of the candidates to print out their JAMB Exam Slip.
It would be recalled that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had last week tuesday sent an SMS to all the 2015 UTME candidates that the re-printing of their registration slip to access their examination dates and centres would commence today, 2nd March, 2015.

Liveschoolnews.com.ng grapevine gathered that candidates numbering over 300 today approached the JAMB Zonal Office in Makurdi and demanded their printouts. Jamb officials pleaded with them to come back after one hour for their Jamb slips, but that they refused and started throwing stones at the officials and security operatives.

Our correspondent gathered that the stones injured one of the security guards and a police officer attached to the office

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Hyacinth Dagala, said the police intervened to prevent breakdown of law and order.

Dagala said the police rushed to the scene and arrested 50 of the protesters in order to calm the situation.
