Akanu Ibiam Poly Attacked By the Host Community

At Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana early morning on Monday 18th may 2015, as a group of angry mob invaded the school territory destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.

They set the school multi-purpose hall ablaze, contractor's tractor, hundreds of bags of cements and all the blocks. The mob entered the school hostel to attack students, on the process students reacted and there was uproar at the school premises.

Many of the students and the mob had a machet cuts on their bodies. The angry mob made up of Unwana youth vow to deal with students and mounted road block in all road leading to unwana.

The dean students affair Mr J.K.J Okonkwo invited the
first set of police but they could not do anything but to take to their heels.

It took the presence of the Special Anti-robbery squad (SAS)TO remove the road blocks.

However, the Rector of the institution, Venerable Ogbonnaya Ibenwo have asked students to go home until further notice.
