The Leader of the House of Representatives, Mrs Mulikat Akande-Adeola, has urged women in Ekiti to mobilise to ensure success of PDP’s candidate Ayo Fayose in the June 21 polls.
Akande-Adeola made the call on Friday in Ado-Ekiti when she held a meeting with PDP South-West Women Forum.
She advised them to collect their voter cards and exercise their civic responsibility by voting in the upcoming governorship election.
She gave the assurance that the Federal Government would provide adequate security to guaranty safety of lives and property during and after the polls.
“It is my conviction that women of today, with their intimidating background and education, should no longer be involved in mere clapping and dancing for male politicians at campaign rallies.
“They are supposed to be major contributors to nation’s development,” she said.
Akande said that women willing to contest elective positions should make their intentions known to the forum without further delay to secure the assistance needed to prosecute such ambition.
“I am mobilising women across the country, not just for Ekiti or Osun States but also for 2015 general elections so that we can have more women in positions of authority.”
