Scholarship Description
The Mexican Directorate-General for Educational and Cultural Cooperation, through the Academic Exchange Department, designs and manages the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Scholarship Program for Foreigners.
The scholarships of the Mexican Government present two programs: the scholarship for academic studies and the scholarship for special programs.
The scholarships for academic studies are offered to complete a specialty, master’s, doctorate and conduct research at the graduate level programs. The offer also includes academic mobility in the undergraduate and graduate levels. Meanwhile, grants for special programs are offered for short-stay visitors aimed at teachers, researchers on issues of Mexico, media partners and stays artistic creation, among others.
The Embassy of Mexico has the pleasure to announce the opening of the call for the 2014 Mexican Government Excellence Scholarship Program for Foreign Students.
Eligibility
General Terms and Conditions:
The scholarships for academic studies are offered to take complete programs for Specialization, Master’s or PhD Degrees, and Postgraduate Researches. Likewise, the offer includes academic mobility for Bachelor’s and Postgraduate Degree.
On the other hand, the scholarships for special programs are offered Preferred to take short-term fellowships addressed to Visiting Professors, Researchers in Mexico’s issues, Media Contributors, Art Production Fellowships, etc.
Candidates cannot be living in Mexico at the time of application.
Except in special cases, scholarships cannot begin in November or December.
Requests for information and all scholarship applications must be submitted to the Mexican embassy or concurrent embassy of the applicant’s country or to the designated Mexican institution. Only applications that fulfill all of the requirements will be considered.
All documents and forms must be in Spanish or submitted with translations into Spanish.
Candidates will be informed of the results by the corresponding Mexican embassy or designated Mexican institution.
The scholarships are not transferable and cannot be deferred to future years.

Fields of study
Scholarships are for ALL COURSES of human endeavor at ALL LEVELS available at participating Mexican institutions except Business administration, Plastic surgery, accounting, marketing, dentistry and advertising.
These include Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D, medical specialization courses as well as for postgraduate-level research, postdoctoral stays, postgraduate mobility programs, artistic creation residences, high-level conferences, residences for Mexicanist researchers, residences for media collaborators, and special chairs for visiting professors.

Sponsorship duration
The Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis for a duration of up to:
1 year for specialization studies
2 years for Masters degree studies
3 years for Ph.D. studies
3 years for Medical specialties and subspecialties
1 to 12 months for postgraduate research and postdoctoral stays (1 month minimum)
One academic term (quarter, trimester or semester) for Undergraduate and graduate academic mobility programs
Scholarship benefits
The Foreign Ministry grant includes:

Grants are given for the following programs:
Visiting Professors:
Grants for specialists and/or professors to give special lectures, courses, workshops, seminars, etc. in Mexican universities or research centers for a minimum of four hours a week.
High-level Conferences:
Grants for international experts to give high-level conferences in Mexican academic, research, social and cultural institutions, etc.Candidate Profile;
Must be an expert in the topic of the high-level conference;
Must have a PhD or an established record in the field
Genaro Estrada Scholarship for Specialists in Mexican Studies:
Research grants for international specialists in Mexican studies
Candidate Profile:
Must be a published expert on a topic related to Mexico with an established career.
This program is not open to candidates who are beginning their studies or research.
Artist Residencies:
Grants to create an artistic work in Mexico under the guidance of an expert in the field, either national or foreign, in residence in Mexico.
Media Residencies:
This program is for international media professionals (print or electronic) who are interested in writing articles and reports and conducting interviews in Mexico.
Improving the Quality of Mexican Secondary and Higher Education Institutions:
Grants for education specialists and international education administrators to give conferences, courses and workshops and to exchange experiences and best practices with Mexican administrators and others that contribute to improving the quality,internationalization and administration of Mexican public higher education institutions.
