Academic staff members of the Imo State University, on Friday, 7th May, 2015 embarked on an indefinite strike to press home their demand for the payment of outstanding salaries.
Rising from the meeting yesterday, lecturers in IMSU unanimously voted for an indefinite strike starting from Yesterday until their salaries are paid.
The Lecturer of the institution yesterday resolved to boycott classes until the government paid them their outstanding salaries and bonuses.
The industrial action paralyzed academic activities at the institution as the lecturers stayed away from work. Students who had come for lectures were observed discussing their frustration in hush tones among themselves.
Chairman of the Union, who preferred anonymous said, the academic staff had no option than to stay away from work because the non-payment of their salaries had made life difficult for them.
