The University of Jos has introduced Dentistry which is domiciled in
the College of Medical Sciences of the university, amongst other
programmes.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos,
Professor Hayward Babale Mafuyai, made this known at the swearing in/
induction ceremony of newly qualified Medical Doctors from the
university.
Professor Mafuyai said the university is doing its
best to admit the first set of Dentistry students in the 2015/16
academic session and hopes that ”in six years time, the university will
induct its first set of Dental Surgeons along with the Medical
graduands”.
The Dean, faculty of Medical Sciences, Prof. Simon J.
Yiltok while appreciating the management for its positive strides within
the university, appealed to the management to ensure that ”all efforts
be made so we will be able to admit students in the newly established
Dentistry prgramme within the shortest
possible time” The Dentistry
programme is one amongst 22 others established by the management within
the last one year, many of which kick-started with the admission of
students into the various programmes for undergraduate studies in the
2014/15 academic session which just started .
Other programmes
introduced are in new faculties such as the faculty of Agricultural
Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Department of Music, amongst
others. The 22 newly introduced programmes revolve round these
faculties/departments.
