How to Live with an Overly Critical Person

Maybe you live with a very critical person. Maybe you are fed up with criticism from a person at school. Whatever the case, here are some tips for you.

 Steps

    1
Understand that a critical person has most likely learned to be that way because that was the way they were raised. They may have been dealt with in a critical way by parents when they were children, and be retaliating unconsciously.
    2
Don't take it personally. Establish good communication skills and maybe you can help your better half to see the error of their ways and they can make changes to improve the relationship.
    3
Establish good boundaries. Realize that, since their behavior might be a reflection on their treatment by their parents, and since they may be acting in self defense (against this earlier maltreatment), that it would do them and you some good to give them a break. Realize that they are behaving negatively to someone in their past, not you. Good boundaries can keep your self-esteem intact and also keep you emotionally stable during those "critical" times. Good luck.
    4
Learn to ignore and not respond. Put your pride down.
    5
It could be a good idea to talk to the critical person. Maybe they do not realise how critical they are.
    6
Though you should ignore the criticism, Do not just give them the "cold shoulder". Kill them with kindness.

Tips

Be very patient with the person.
