Nadal uncertain of US Open defence

Rafael Nadal will know on Tuesday whether or not he will be allowed with a chance to defend his US Open title from August 25 in New York City, Tennis World USA reports.

The reigning US Open champion is suffering from a wrist injury.

Nadal himself explains the situation: “On Tuesday I will go to Barcelona with Doctor Ruiz-Cotorro. He and his team will tell me how the healing proceeds, if the wrist got better or I will need to take extra time off. For now, all I can do is train at the best of my abilities” revealed the World No.2.

The videos posted by the Spaniard online sent his fans hopes rocket high. Soon after Nadal posted that footage online, uncle Toni said: “Rafa’s rhythm during practice has been very high, the only problem we have is that he can’t train his double-handed backhand”.

The US Open couldn’t be any closer. Two weeks and all the best players in the World will try to get a chance to win the last Slam of the tournament in the most exciting city of the World. Cabs in New York are advertising the event already, Flushing Meadows is around the corner.

“I will propel myself if I will have to. If I will have to cut the healing time short I will. It all depends on how painful the wrist will be after the cure. We all know that once a muscle isn’t trained for a while it takes time to get back to full shape. When I will take the bandage off I will try to hit and see if it will hurt or not” concluded Nadal.
