It's noteworthy to see here that the third and the highest level of
tertiary education in Nigeria is the University, followed by
Polytechnics among others. However, the pressing issue we want to
discuss here today, is that although there are hundreds of courses
available for students to choose from, most students go for popular
courses which we will be listing below in a short while. We think that
it's important you note that there are presently 124 universities with
Federal government controlling 37 universities and the state government
controlling 37 universities, while the Private sector controls 50.
In
total, all aspirants have a choice to choose over 570 courses from each
courses, which are most times, categorized into Faculties.
However,
the truth about these courses is that there are some courses that have
enjoyed consistent preference. We have seen where majority of students
choose these courses.
We drawing this date from what JAMB aspirants
have used in their course choices in both the JAMB 2013 and jamb utme
2014 to show some of these courses.
These obviously would help
those still in Secondary schools and future JAMB applicants know how
competitive a course is before finally locking their choice down on it,
however, let let the number of competitors or applicants in a course
stop you from going into it. Because you're better than most, if not
all. The choice is yours.
From my findings; Medicine & Surgery is the most sought-after course in the whole of Nigeria universities.
Also,
out of the whole 124 universities; only 35 offer Medicine &
Surgery, 16 Federal, 14 State and 4 Private universities respectively.
