- 1Choose a set of speakers. Decide whether or not you want a subwoofer or if you want to go for full on 5.1 surround sound. You don't need to spend a fortune but don't go for the cheapest 'value' set.
- 2Connect the 3.5mm jack plug to the headphones out of your laptop.
- 3Adjust the volume on your laptop to at least 80. You can do this by clicking on the sound icon in the taskbar and sliding it up.
- 4Connect the plug to a mains outlet and turn the speakers on.
- 5Turn the volume on the speakers to their minimum.
- 6Play some music using the laptop, then slowly turn up the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.
- 7Enjoy listening to your music
- You can use streaming sites like Spotify or We7 to listen to music for free. This enables you to enjoy a wider range of music.
- Play around with your laptops sound settings and adjust effects, the equaliser etc.
- Some speakers incorporate an MP3 cradle to store your MP3 Player or iPod on whilst using it with your speakers.
- You can also use your new speakers with your MP3 player or iPod. Follow the above instructions but plug the jack into your MP3 Player instead of your laptop.
Warnings
- Never touch the subwoofer of your speakers.
- Playing with your sound settings too much may result in undesired results that are hard to undo.
