FUTA Strengthens Postgraduate Programme As 1,635 Matriculate

To further deepen the teaching and learning experience of its post graduate students, the Management of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has put in place strategies to ensure services received are of the highest quality and comparable to top flight Institutions in the world. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebiyi Daramola said this at the recent matriculation and induction of 1,635 Postgraduate students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He commended the students for excelling in the merit based and rigorous selection process which stood them out among numerous applicants. He expressed the delight that the postgraduate school was undergoing proactive steps to make the experience of its students smooth while on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the University Librarian, Dr. Femi Oguntuase reiterated the administration’s vision of taking FUTA to the market place and sustaining meaningful and positive collaborations with reputable Institutions abroad while urging the matriculants to join forces with Management to achieve the ultimate goal of excellence.

The Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Moses Ajewole stated that the University, under the current administration has strategically positioned itself to provide the appropriate platform to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

He assured the students that the University Management was removing bottle necks that often serve as impediment to the completion of programmes within stipulated time frame. He urged the students to be focused and make good use of provided opportunity to achieve success.

At the induction which preceded the matriculation ,Papers in relevant postgraduate and general guidance and counseling in relation to the University were presented with the Lead Paper titled “Global relevance in Postgraduate Studies” delivered by Professor Oyedapo Fagbenro of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology. Other resource persons included Director, International Office, Professor Afolabi Akindahunsi, Director, Computer Resource Centre, Engr. A. Osunsanya, the University Librarian, Dr. Femi Oguntuase, the Acting Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Kayode Alese and Director, Health Services, Dr. Rufus Adenikinju, who was represented by Dr. (Mrs.) Peace Iyilade.
