How to Keep Confidential Data Secure on an USB by Using Hopedot Vos Security Edition

USB flash drives are used everywhere to store and transfer data at work. We can also see various kinds of encrypted USB drives in the market to cater to the needs of data security. But the headache remains for enterprises, as the staffs still can copy the confidential data to the USB and incautiously make them exposed out of office. Hopedot VOS is an advanced software solution for better management of data transfer by using removable storage devices. The following is about how the confidential data will be encrypted into a Hopedot VOS enabled USB drive and all the data transfer will be conducted under password authorization.

N.B Visit www.campusflava.com for more updates

Steps

  1. 1
Download Hopedot VOS Security Edition from http://www.hopedot.com/products/download.html and install it on a fast speed USB drive. If you use Hopedot VOS tailor-made USB, you can skip this step, as the software has been pe-installed in the USB drive.
  2. 2
Install your often use applications (Firefox, Office 2007, Skype etc.) in Hopedot VOS virtual operating system. Then do the job and save the confidential data only in Hopedot VOS environment. The data will be encrypted in the USB and not accessible without all the passwords.
  3. 3
No matter which PC the USB is plugged into, the first layer of protection is that you need to start the Hopedot VOS virtual system with login password.
  4. 4
The second layer protection is that you need to input account password before entering the Hopedot VOS environment.
  5. 5
After logging into the Hopedot VOS environment, the third layer protection is that you need to input data management password before you can transfer data between the host system of PC and the Hopedot VOS environment.
  6. 6
To import data from the host system of PC to the Hopedot VOS enabled USB, find the down arrow “↓” on the toolbar and click it. Input the data management password and login.
  7. 7
Choose the data you want to import from all the storage location of the host system. It will be automatically saved into the “Import and Export Files” folder on Hopedot VOS desktop.
  8. 8
To export data from the Hopedot VOS environment to the host system of PC, firstly you should make sure the data you want to export has been moved to the “Import and Export Files” folder on Hopedot VOS desktop. Find the up arrow “↑” on the toolbar and click it. Input the data management password and login.
  9. 9
Choose the data you want to export and right click it. Select “Export” and then select a path to export.
  10. 10
If you want to leave the PC with the Hopedot VOS enabled USB for a while, you can lock (unlock) the screen of Hopedot VOS system using login password.

Tips

  • The USB could be any fast speed USB drive. Or you can choose the tailor-made USB by Hopedot VOS company, which features 256-bit AES hardware-encryption and a self-destruct mechanism which activates after the user enters his password incorrectly a certain number of consecutive times.
  • The login password, account password and the data management password of Hopedot VOS Security Edition can be set up differently to better protect personal or enterprises’ confidential data.
  • Enterprises or organizations can control data transfer by password authorization separately using Hopedot VOS enabled USB.
  • Hopedot VOS is a clean and isolated virtual operating system. All the data in this system will be encrypted and won’t be affected by virus.
  • All the data and operations will be saved automatically and be recovered next time to start the Hopedot VOS if accidents like power cut happen.

How to Install a Planar Mirror Flip Reading Card on a Computer (for Dyslexics)

Strephosymbolia is the oldest known form of dyslexia (the name, from its ancient Greek roots, literally means "twisted symbols"). The addition of a mirror image support card to a computer can help those who are mirror sighted. Doing this provides a simple solution for inverting text so that it is readable. This article explains how to upgrade your computer system to support a mirror image view of your system's desktop screen.

N.B Visit www.campusflava.com for more updates

Steps
  1. 1
Ensure that your computer has the appropriate support capacity to accept the card: PCI Slot Adaptable.

    • It must have both VGA and DVI-D or HDMI output on the back of the system, along with a view screen that supports the same inputs.
    • The primary graphics card must support the clone feature (duel screen mode on).
    • Adapter harness
      Adapter harness
The system must have an empty PCI card slot to support a mirror flip card. (See next step.)
  2. 2
Obtain a planar mirror-flip card. This can be purchased online if you do not already have one. You will need Part#: 944-0679-02. A contact phone number is also listed online.
  3. 3
When the card arrives, install it in the empty slot (no software is needed).
    • Shut down all power.
    • Open the case and locate any available PCI slot.
    • Unlatch the card slot retainer arm into a fully downward position.
    • Remove the metal dust guard from the inside to allow room for the harness connections.
    • Locate the PCI tongue of the card and then, with care, insert it securely into the empty PCI slot.
    • Reattach the card retaining arm.
    • Note the red arrow pointing to the green card in the planar card PCI slot location.
Note the red arrow pointing to the green card in the planar card PCI slot location.
      Close the case.
  4. 4
After closing the back of your system, connect a six-inch DVI-D adapter or HDMI cable (whichever your system supports). It should be connected in both of the following ways:

    • from the DVI-D output of the primary card to the Input of the DVI-D planar card;
    • from the output of the planar flip card to the input of the DVI or HDMI input on your monitor.
    • If you are having difficulty setting up the system, installation troubleshooting can be found online.
  5. 5
    Dual View
    Dual View
Check to see if it works. If installed correctly, the screen should appear as if in standard text and picture format to those who are mirror sighted. As for those who have standard vision, the entire screen will appear as if viewed in a mirror.

Tips
  • If you are unable to configure the card, you should get technical assistance. Both the system and the duel view monitor, as well the remote that switches between VGA standard view and DVI-D mirror view, must be made available to the tech person you are working with.
  • For a description of mirror writing, you can read this document

  Warnings
  • If your children are not dyslexic or are still learning to read, do not let them view the screen in mirror mode, as they may get the idea that text is supposed to be read backwards. This solution is meant only for those who are truly mirror sighted.

How to Install DOS

DOS is an early operating system from Microsoft that for the most part has now been replaced by Microsoft Windows. However, people still like to use DOS commands for activities like playing DOS games or using DOS programs like Robocopy. Since DOS is an older interface from Windows, the method to install DOS can also seem a little old-fashioned.

N.B Visit www.campusflava.com for more updates

 Steps
  1. 1
Purchase the DOS installation disks (they come in a set of 3 floppy disks). Usually you can purchase the set of floppy disks and an external floppy disk drive if needed for a very affordable price.
  2. 2
Insert the first installation disk in the floppy disk drive and restart your computer. The first disk is a bootable disk so you should see an option to hit a key to boot from the disk (the exact key can vary depending on which computer you have).
  3. 3
Hit the key to boot from the floppy drive. Your computer will abandon the usual boot process and instead you will see a blue screen with Microsoft DOS setup menu.
  4. 4
Press the Enter key on your keyboard to continue with the setup process.
  5. 5
Select "Configure first hard disk (recommended)" by hitting the Enter key again.

    4
Remove All Distractions. The worst thing when trying to work is distractions. To remove all distractions shutdown any email or IM programs. Don't open anything that isn't related to your work (but if you do only open it once or twice).
