 Steps
  1. 1
Think about a color scheme. Try to avoid mixing contrasting colors, as it will make your computer look tacky. If you want red, for example, also have yellows and oranges. But if you like cooler colors, have greens, blues, and purples.
  2. 2
Buy decorative tape. Surprisingly, stores like Target have decorative tape, or you could buy it online. Online, it often goes by the name of "washi tape." Lean towards buying different patterns, as it will make your computer look more personalized.
  3. 3
Measure out the places you want to decorate. Measure the sizes of the keys you'd like to cover, so they look cleaner, and measure how long the top of your computer is.
  4. 4
Cut the pieces of tape. Using your measurements, cut out each piece of tape, mixing up patterns.
  5. 5
Stick the tape on the top of your computer and your keyboard. Don't put two of the same pattern next to each other, because it won't look very good. If there are rough edges, trim those down so they fit. Decorative tape is nice because if you don't like how it looks, it will come off easily and won't leave marks.

Tips
  • Mix and match patterns
  • Don't put the same pattern next to each other

Warnings
  • Make sure the tape is okay to put on your computer
  • Don't try to glue the tape on, it will stick.
