MTN Offers 20 Nigerian Kids Scholarship To Study Abroad

TELECOMMUNICATION giants MTN Nigeria are offering about 20 school kids between the ages of 15 and 18 scholarship opportunity of combining education and football career in its season three of MTN Football scholar tournament.

According to the organisers, the kids would be selected after weeks of rigorous training and tests in Six zones which are Port Harcourt, Lagos, Benin, Akure, Abuja and Enugu.

Ex Eagles International Segun Odegbami said Wednesday at a media briefing heralding the event that the tournament would give the children an opportunity to become successful in their educational pursuit and chosen career in football.

He said also that the programme was designed in such a way that young Nigerians will develop their skills through education abroad

" If you go to school and play football, the combination is a paradise. I thank MTN for sharing my vision, I am a living testimony that even after playing football you can still become a doctor, engineer whatever..

"The era of calling footballers drop out is over. When I was in Spain I had team mates who practiced different professions after playing soccer," the former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju quipped.

In the same vein, the Technical Director of the programme sponsored by MTN Kunle Raji said the event will take place in 6 zones which are Port Harcourt, Lagos, Benin, Akure, Abuja and Enugu.
